How do I choose an outplacement company?
Define your budget and requirements. Ask your colleagues and friends for recommendations. Ensure the company has industry knowledge and check their credentials. Professional outplacement companies will offer you a free initial consultation. I would meet with 2 or 3 for comparison. Discuss which aspects you would like support with and the different options. Companies have different specialisms. Some focus on job search support and some more on career management. At the meeting ask about offline and offline support and resources available. Check the coaches’ qualifications and that there is complete transparency around costs.
